9 Midweek Musings

bluegrass egg whites my car Mar 13, 2024

There is a heated debate going on about how many musings there should be per week. I'm laughing because honestly, I'm not sure either, but I'm here to experiment. Less is less work, more is more gratitude. This week I've decided to split it down the middle with enlightened number nine.

1. Egg whites.

I used to HATE eggs with a burning passion. The smell, the taste, the texture, the smell, the smell, did I say the smell? Okay, they still creep me out, honestly. BUT with a few fixins and without the yolk (just can't do it), I am obsessed with how much protein (4 g per egg and I'll have 3 each morning) these little suckers provide. I make sure to buy ethical, free-range, organic eggs (and local if it's available!)!

2. My job.

I've always been so grateful for my job. My clients. That I've built a career out of what's saved my life and is my absolute passion anyway. The remote freedom. The fact that there's always more to learn and it's never boring. Towards the end of last year, I started getting a little tired of myself, working on my own and just felt a bit too scattered to take any new clients on... but I am so happy to report with a little stability, daily breaks, making big decisions and practicing a slew of things I preach, I am FKN BACK, READY AND MORE ENTHUSIASTIC + WISE THAN EVER. Come at me. Aka join the Mu Membership for all the best tools, practices and resources.

3. Being the altar.

This has been coming up a lot in my meditations, my writing, in my orbit and through my clients... the altar isn't outside of you. It's within you. That shrine, that temple, that person, that place you're been so devotional to... it's just here for you to witness that you can give that same love to yourself.

And you're meant to. YOU are the altar.

4. Miami.

Just... dude... I love Miami. I'm planning a trip there around my birthday in April and I'm so ready. The colors, the music, the weather, the chaos, the culture - maybe it's just meant for my visits, but I often wonder if there's more there for me...

5. Vanilla incense.

I light this and I am a spiritual priestess immediately. You can do the same by getting yours here.

6. My car.

I shipped my car to Maui because I thought of course, I'd never be coming back to California. Well life is full of surprises. I've been back and forth pretty much ever since I shipped it and have been getting around by borrowing, begging and... not quite stealing, but I've been tempted. After looking for months at the astronomically high used cars available, in a serendipitous turn of events, I was able to purchase the exact car I wanted at about $4K lower than the going rate from a dear friend.

Since having one, I have been overflowing with gratitude. I will never take having one for granted again. It is such a gift to have this freedom.

7. Bluegrass.

Before you start dropping bluegrass songs in my DM's, I'm neutral on bluegrass, but after a series of jokes about it, my boyfriend, his family and I decided to attend a bluegrass festival in Lake Havasu. It was exactly what you'd think: patchwork, cheese curds, lawn chairs and most people over the age of 68 - and I loved every bit of it. Sitting at a bench in the sun with that banjo in the background soothed something in me I didn't know needed to be soothed.

8. Banana Honey Castor Oil hair masks.

I've been really working on my hair health lately and loved this homemade mask I tried. It includes honey to strengthen and moisturize follicles, banana to improve shine, prevent breakage, and control dandruff, and Jamaican Black Castor oil to stimulate hair growth.

Recipe:

2 bananas

1 tbsp honey

1 tbsp Jamaican Black Castor oil

Instructions:

Blend it or mix it well. Lather it into damp or dry hair, leave for anywhere from 1 hour to overnight! Wrap hair in shower cap and sleep on a towel if overnight.

9. Space heaters.

Anyone else always freezing? I am known to be wrapped in a blanket around the house all day if it's anything under 73 degrees outside. I've upgraded to a space heater at my feet and I'm just wondering what took me so long.
