5 Texts to Send to Your Loved Ones

mental health Dec 08, 2020

Do you know someone who is going through a stressful time? Trick question. Who doesn't, right?

Sadly, there are probably many people in your life right now that you'd love to pay a visit to, but so often this pandemic keeps us safely apart.

Sometimes we stop ourselves from reaching out in fear of being a pest, overstepping our bounds, or being wrong. Let's make 2020 the year we stop stopping ourselves from loving on our loved ones.

Here are some texts you can send to check in and show your people you're there for them:

1. I just want you to know that your feelings are valid. I hear you, see you, feel you and can only imagine what you’re going through.

Why: Letting people know you’re empathetic to their situation is invaluable. It makes them feel seen, heard, supported and understood. Your presence and compassion is essential. 2. I am here for you. Why: Letting someone know that you’re there for them is deeply healing in and of itself. Make it simple. Make it present. Mean it. This short sentence goes a long way in reminding people that they’re not alone. 3. Make sure you feel your feels. They are important. As are you.

Why: We can all use this reminder. Feelings are important and valid. Thinking of their feelings and affirming them creates a sense of trust and acceptance. 4. If you ever need help with this, I’d love to support you. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Why: Sometimes people need to hear it straight-up. Are you there to support them or not? If you are, don't make them guess. Letting them know helps them feel secure and opens the door for them to truly lean on you should they need the help. 5. I love you.

Why: These are the most powerful words we can utter.
